TELEPHIA SUPPORTS CONSUMER RESEARCH INITIATVES FOR INDUSTRY-LEADING MOBILE TELEVISION AND MUSIC PROVIDER, MOBITV
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--March 27, 2007--Telephia, the largest provider of syndicated consumer research to the telecom and mobile media markets, today announced it will provide consumer research data to MobiTV, the global leader in mobile and broadband television and music services.
The
mobile video market is reaching new heights. According
to the latest research from Telephia, there were 6.2
million U.S. mobile video subscribers in Q4 2006, up
145 percent since the first quarter of 2006. Carrier
revenue for mobile video subscriptions totaled $148
million in Q4 2006, jumping 188 percent since the beginning
of 2006. Mobile video also attracts coveted demographic
groups: men and young viewers. Men make up 70 percent
of current mobile video subscribers, compared to 47
percent of the total mobile population. Sixty-two percent
of mobile video subscribers are between the ages of
18-36, while young viewers represent just a little over
one-third among all mobile subscribers.
